Legal

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Overview

JourneyDoctors ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. By using JourneyDoctors, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

JourneyDoctors operates as a telehealth platform connecting patients with AI-powered health guidance and licensed human healthcare providers. Because we handle health-related information, we treat your privacy with exceptional care and comply with applicable US privacy laws including HIPAA where applicable.

Data We Collect

Account & Identity Information

When you create an account we collect your full name, email address, date of birth, and password (stored in hashed form). Providers additionally submit professional credentials, license numbers, and specialty information.

Health Information

When you use our consultation services, we collect the health information you share — symptoms, medical history, medications, allergies, and related details. This information is used solely to provide care and improve care quality. Where this constitutes Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA, it is handled in accordance with our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.

Payment Information

Payment transactions are processed by Paystack, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We do not store your full card number, CVV, or bank account details on our servers. We retain transaction records including amount, date, and a tokenised reference for billing and dispute purposes.

Device & Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you use our platform: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, session duration, and click behaviour. This data is used for security monitoring, performance improvement, and analytics. We do not sell this data.

Communications

If you contact our support team, subscribe to our newsletter, or communicate through the platform, we retain records of those communications to provide support and improve our service.

How We Use Your Data

  • Providing care: To match you with appropriate AI and human providers, deliver consultations, send appointment confirmations, and maintain your medical records within the platform.
  • Account management: To authenticate your identity, manage your subscription, and process payments.
  • Communications: To send appointment reminders, health tips (if subscribed), and service updates. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
  • Improving services: To analyse usage patterns, identify bugs, and develop new features. Analytics use aggregated, de-identified data wherever possible.
  • Safety and compliance: To detect fraud, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal information. Ever.

We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Healthcare providers: Licensed doctors and nurses on our platform receive the health information necessary to provide your consultation.
  • Service providers: Trusted third parties who help us operate the platform — cloud hosting (with encryption at rest and in transit), payment processing (Paystack), email delivery (Mailjet), and analytics. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or government authority, or when necessary to protect the safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any such change and your choices will be respected.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, financial records are typically retained for 7 years under US tax law, and certain medical records may have state-mandated retention periods).

Aggregated, de-identified data derived from your usage may be retained indefinitely for research and product improvement purposes, as it cannot be used to identify you.

To request deletion of your account and associated data, email support@journeydoctors.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request".
